INFORMATION REGARDING MINISTERIAL LICENSE DOCUMENTATION
A Ministerial License will authorize you to represent the Church of God (Seventh Day) as a Minister of the Gospel. Several privileges may follow. You may serve a congregation as a pastor and your document will inspire the trust of the membership of the Church. You will also be a member of the NAMC.
QUALIFICATIONS: To apply, you must:
- Be a legal resident of the United States or Canada.
- Applicants must be 20 years of age.
- Have been a member of the Church of God (Seventh Day) for two years.
- Complete the Associate of Christian Leadership* program (Pastoral Ministry concentration) from Artios Christian College, or its equivalent, no later than February 15.
- Official transcripts for education earned outside of LifeSpring School of Ministry/Artios Christian College must be sent to the License & Credentials Committee, at the address above, no later than December 1.
- Agree to the pre-application agreement.
- Demonstrate mature leadership as described in 1 Tim 3:2-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
- Have the ability to preach and teach the Word of God.
- Uphold the doctrines of the Church of God (Seventh Day) in the Statement of Faith.
- Support the polity of the Church, including giving tithe and offerings.
- Practice holding personal devotions and prayer daily.
DATES: The committee will review applications at their annual meeting in the end of February. Applicants must comply to the following dates in order for their application to be reviewed by the committee:
- Application must be requested of the Custodian of Records (lcc.custodian@cog7.org ) no later than November 1.
- Qualifications items 1-4 must be met no later than December 1 in order to receive an application.
- Applications must be completed and sent to the Custodian of Records no later than December 15.
- References* and resolutions of sponsorship** must be sent to the Custodian of Records no later than January 15.
- *Required references: Your pastor; Your District Superintendent; Your local church Elder; A second local church Board Member; 2+ NAMC members.
- **Required resolutions of sponsorship: Your district board; Your local church board.
- Applicants should be prepared for an interview during the February meeting. The committee will initiate setting this up.
RENEWAL: A ministerial license expires every five years. The renewal of your license depends upon your completing 75 hours of continuing education as prescribed by the License and Credentials Committee. Attendance at NAMC meetings is required in accordance with the Church Manual/Ministerial Documentation Manual under “Ministerial Inactivity.”
