INFORMATION REGARDING TRANSFER OF MINISTERIAL DOCUMENTATION

By transferring your ministerial documentation to the General Conference in the U.S., and upon receiving a Ministerial License, you will be authorized to represent the Church of God (Seventh Day) as a minister of the gospel. Several privileges may follow. You may serve a congregation as a pastor, and your document will inspire the trust of the Church membership. You will also become a member of the North American Ministerial Council.

QUALIFICATIONS: To apply, you must

  1. be a legal resident of the United States or Canada.
  2. have been a member of the Church of God (Seventh Day) exclusively (by surrendering any former documentation to the License and Credentials Committee) for two years.
  3. provide a copy of your former document and/or a letter declaring your surrender of that document.
  4. provide a copy of the documentation manual (or other official organization publication) for the organization you were formerly documented with, accompanied by a letter noting the pages that list
    • a description of the document formerly held (including what you were documented to do);
    • a description of the organization’s documentation process.
  5. complete the Transfer Orientation Program (LEA 321 Leadership in CoG7 and THE 202 CoG7 Doctrine courses or competency exams) no later than February 15.
  6. agree to the pre-application agreement.

DATES: The committee will review applications at its annual meeting the end of February. Applicants must comply with the following dates for their application to be reviewed by the committee:

  • Application must be requested of the Custodian of Records (lcc.custodian@cog7.org or at the phone number above) no later than November 1.
  • Qualifications must be met no later than December 1 to receive an application.
  • Applications must be completed and sent to the Custodian of Records no later than December 15.
  • References* and letters of recommendation** must be sent to the Custodian of Records no later than January 15.
    • *Required references: your district superintendent; two-plus NAMC members.
    • **Required letters: pastor/leader of the congregation you attend; Church of God (Seventh Day) district/conference leader from the country you are transferring from, if applicable.
  • Applicants should be prepared for an interview during the committee’s February meeting. The committee will initiate setting this up.

RENEWAL: A Ministerial License expires every five years. The renewal of your license depends on your completing 75 hours of continuing education as prescribed by the License and Credentials Committee. Attendance at NAMC meetings is required in accordance with the Church Manual/Ministerial Documentation Manual under “Ministerial Inactivity.”
